Doctor Diana P. Carmona-Keller

I went into medicine with the desire to serve patients and make a difference. I went into OB/GYN because it was the only field in medicine where I felt that I could have a life-long relationship with my patients by being there during the major milestones in their lives.

With managed care companies dictating what care we give to patients and insurance companies limiting what they will cover, most physicians have found that they no longer have a voice. This has led physicians to form large group practices in order to be heard. The result, however, is that patient care has become fragmented.

Often, patients find themselves bouncing around between doctors within a practice, with no one doctor taking ownership for seeing a problem through from start to finish.

The United States of America has the most state-of-the-art advances in medicine, but it has taken 10 steps backwards in how it delivers health care. Patients can no longer say, "Doctor X is my doctor" with confidence that Doctor X knows them. This is not how I envisioned practicing medicine.

In an effort to re-establish the personal patient–doctor relationship I had envisioned, I have started GyneSolo. Patients no longer have to travel all over town to find their doctor. Patients no long have to worry about seeing a new stranger at every visit.

The visit to the gynecologist is one of the least favorite places for a woman to go. However, we will do our best to make things a little easier.
